SALISBURY, Md. -- Perdue Grain & Oilseed, LLC, a business unit of Perdue AgriBusiness, announced that it has purchased the former Tanglewood Farms Inc. grain elevator in Elizabeth City, N.C. The facility will immediately began operating as part of Perdue Grain & Oilseed, LLC.
“We've already made our first purchase of soybeans from local farmers and look forward to serving the area farm community," said John Ade, Vice President of Domestic Grain for Perdue AgriBusiness. "The Elizabeth City facility is located midway between our grain receiving and soybean crushing operations in Cofield, N.C., and Chesapeake, Virg. It strengthens the Perdue Grain & Oilseed presence in the Eastern North Carolina market while improving access for local farmers."
The Elizabeth City elevator provides Perdue AgriBusiness with an additional 1.75 million bushels of storage in North Carolina and becomes the company's 11th elevator in the state. Perdue AgriBusiness also operates an ingredient blending operation, a soybean crushing plant and a protein conversion plant in North Carolina.
“Perdue AgriBusiness has been a trusted name in the North Carolina farm community since 1981 when we started purchasing grain from local farmers through our operation in Cofield. We look forward to building upon that trust through our operation in Elizabeth City," said Ade.
Perdue AgriBusiness's Grain & Oilseed, LLC, is a full-service provider to farmer-producers of corn, soybeans, barley and wheat and its marketing programs give farmers access to local, regional and international markets.
