Delmarva farmers can learn about seed and crop input advancements at Winter Grower Meeting

Perdue AgriBusiness and DuPont Pioneer invite Delmarva grain farmers to learn about the latest advancements in seeds and crop protection at the annual Winter Growing Meeting, Feb. 21 in Harrington, Del.

The event will include information on the new Pioneer “A Series” soybeans, offering greater yields, with DuPont Pioneer agronomist Bill McCollum. DuPont Pioneer corn breeder Dave Whitaker will provide an update on efforts to develop corn varieties for peak performance on Delmarva, while Karen Hartman of DuPont Crop Protection will talk about herbicide options for difficult-to-control weeds.

Farmers will also learn about DuPont’s Encirca Services for precision agriculture, including systems that combine GPS field mapping with real-time weather information.

The event will wrap up with a review of Pioneer seed performance on Delmarva from the 2016 growing season.

Perdue AgServices, a part of Perdue AgriBusiness, is the exclusive DuPont Pioneer seed dealer for Delaware and serves Delmarva farmers with crop inputs and agronomy services. Participating farmers committing to grow a minimum of 50 acres of DuPont Pioneer Plenish soybeans can receive three free bags of the beans. Farmers growing Plenish soybeans under contract with Perdue AgriBusiness for the 2017 growing season will receive a 60-cent-per-bushel incentive for producing and storing the beans or a 50-cent-per-bushel premium for a harvest delivery contract.

The Winter Grower Meeting will be held in the Gold Room of the Harrington Raceway and Casino, beginning with coffee and pastries at 8:30 am. Lunch will be provided compliments of DuPont Pioneer. Continued Education Unit (CEU) credits pesticide application licensing are available. Door prizes will also be awarded.

Farmers can register for the event by calling 302-855-5622 or contacting their DuPont Pioneer seed representative.
