Salisbury, Md. (January 21, 2015) – To help in the fight against hunger and food insecurity, Perdue Farms recently donated 26,880 pounds of frozen sliced turkey breast products to Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida.

“The success of our mission depends entirely on generous partners like Perdue Farms to close the gap on hunger in Central Florida,” said Dave Krepcho, president and CEO of Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida. “Donations of high-quality protein, like turkey, make an enormous difference for struggling families in our area.”

Over the past 15 years, Perdue Farms has donated 46 million pounds of poultry products nationwide through Feeding America, the network that provides much-needed help to 60,000 food pantries and meal programs, including Second Harvest.

“At Perdue Farms, we believe that no one should have to go hungry,” said Tommy Waters, director of Perdue operations in Gainesville, Ga., from where the donation was sourced. “That’s why we partner with Feeding America and its network of community food banks and pantries to ensure the safe and effective distribution of our product donations. We hope this donation will help ease the burden for Central Florida children and families in need. ”
