Our Aspirations to Our Associates
To offer a safe, supportive and healthy environment where people want to work.
Those safety programs are designed to create a "culture of safety" that involves every associate. At each of our plants, Safety Teams (which include hourly associates) continuously monitor the work environment and are empowered to halt production to address a potential condition that could cause a “near-miss” or actual accident.
We also set an annual Safety Score goal, making associate safety an accountability for everyone. This creates ongoing awareness while fostering an environment of continuous improvement through proactive safe-work practices.
Our facilities regularly achieve million-safe-hour milestones, and departments are honored annually for no lost-time accidents. Most recently, 22 Perdue Farms facilities, including 14 food producing plants, were recognized by the USPOULTRY Joint Industry Safety and Health Council for outstanding safety performance by implementing innovative and effective safety and health programs. That was an increase over the previous year, when 18 Perdue facilities were recognized, including 12 processing plants. Award consideration was based on statistics over the past three years and an evaluation by an independent panel of three judges.
In addition, in 2013 the Grain Elevator and Processing Society (GEAPS) recognized 27 Perdue AgriBusiness grain elevators for their safety processes and corresponding results.
