Our Aspirations to Our Associates

To offer a safe, supportive and healthy environment where people want to work.

The nationally recognized Perdue Health Improvement Program offers associates individualized health assessments and coaching to reach their personal health improvement goals.

Prevention is the Best Medicine

While our Wellness Centers play a key role in treating our associates and their dependents, we believe that the real measure of a healthy workplace is not just treatment, but improvements in overall health. That’s the philosophy behind the Perdue Health Improvement Program (HIP). This innovative program received national recognition as a C. Everett Koop Health Award winner and was honored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services with a Secretary's Innovation in Prevention Award.

HIP is helping our associates get "HIP" by eliminating lifestyle risk factors and managing controllable diseases, and by creating an environment of health in the workplace. HIP offers free annual health screenings, one-on-one follow ups, counseling with a wellness nurse, health education and workplace health improvement programs. Since its inception in 2008, HIP enrollment has increased to over 75% of our workforce and the average “HIP” health score (measured on a scale of 1–5), has risen to 3.44.

Associate Health Improvement is one of our annual “People” goals, with annual targets for both HIP enrollment and overall health improvement.
